Chapter Celebrates
its 50th Anniversary
The 2005 Annual Meeting marked the 50th Anniversary of the Central
Chapter of the Society of Nuclear Medicine. The Program Committee
used this opportunity to look back at the achievements of past
leaders in nuclear medicine and use it as a base line for looking
forward, to the role of nuclear medicine in the future.

James L. Quinn III Memorial Lecture
Alexander Gottschalk, MD (1971-72), in offering his James Quinn
Memorial Lecture, tracked the history of nuclear medicine by following
the career of Paul V. Harper, MD, a pioneer in nuclear medicine
who served as the Chapter’s president from 1967-69. Other
speakers, in turn, built on the wisdom of the past as they addressed
their visions of the future.

All living past presidents were invited to the meeting and 16
of the 47 past presidents who served the Chapter over the past
50 years were able to attend. All past presidents of the Chapter
and Technologist Section were recognized on a PowerPoint Presentation
as well as on displays at the meeting. The event was capped off
with a 50th Anniversary Celebration Reception to recognize those
past presidents who could attend.
